Community gynaecology service
About the service
The Enhanced Community Gynaecology service supports patients aged 16 years upwards. It provides enhanced gynaecology care that isn’t covered by routine treatment in GP practices.
The service is provided for the CCG by the Community Gynaecology Partnership which includes teams of specialist GPs and consultant gynaecologists linked to a number of different hospitals.
Patients are referred into the community gynaecology service by their GP. From there the service aims to ensure that patients are seen by the right person in the right place first time for their particular gynaecological issue.
The service has clinics in all four of the west Hertfordshire localities. Patients will have appointments and receive some care and treatments in these clinics instead of having to go to hospital. If a patient needs more specialist treatment, including surgery, the service will discuss with the patient which hospital they would like to go to.
