Ear, Nose and Throat
The Enhanced Community Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) service delivered by Communitas Clinics provides specialist advice and treatment for children (aged five and over) and adults.
About the Enhanced Community ENT Service
Care is provided by consultants, GPs with special interest, clinical assistants, specialist nurses and a dedicated support team. They provide specialist assessment, investigations, diagnosis and treatment for a range of conditions in community clinics. In this way patients benefit from services in one place delivered by a locally-based multi-disciplinary team. The service can help with
- Balance / Dizziness
- Ears
- Microsuction for impacted ear wax
- Nose / Sinus
- Snoring (not Sleep Apnoea)
- Throat (incl Voice / Swallowing)
- Tinnitus
Accessing the service
You will need your GP to refer you into the service.
Once this happens a ENT specialist will review the information provided by your GP to decide on the best course of action - making sure you are seen in the right place, by the right clinician at the right time. This will usually be within two days of the service being contacted by your GP.
- If the service thinks that the GP can provide the necessary treatment and support within their practice, patients will be referred back to their GP with a treatment plan
- If they think you hospital treatment, Communitas will organise an appointment at your preferred choice of hospital
- If it is most appropriate for you to be seen within the Enhanced Community ENT Service, a member of the Communitas team will contact you by telephone to arrange a suitable appointment. You can choose which of the four Communitas clinics listed below you wish to attend.
