Integrated Dermatology Service
West Hertfordshire Hospitals Trust (WHHT) is now providing an Integrated Dermatology Service for west Hertfordshire patients. The service provides dermatology advice, appointments and treatments for all patients referred with skin conditions (except for those with suspected skin cancer as these patients need to be followed up differently and more quickly).
The aim of the service is to help patients to be seen by the right person, in the right place and at the right time. The goal is to give advice, education and treatment to help you resume and maintain activity and independence in your daily life at work, home and during leisure.
Referral to the Integrated Dermatology Service
Your GP will refer you to the Dermatology Team who will assess you and decide on the best course of action. Your GP will ask for your consent to take photos of your skin condition, or advise you how you can take your own photos and send these to the GP, so they can use them as part of your referral.
After making their assessment the Dermatology team will then either:
- Advise your GP on treating your skin problem so that they can discuss a treatment plan with you.
- Make you an appointment for a community or hospital clinic or minor operation list.
