If you’re planning to make up for lost time and make memories with family and friends abroad this summer, now is the time to make sure you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Getting your jabs will give you the best chance of being able to visit the people and places you want to see. More than 1.1 million Hertfordshire and west Essex residents have had two doses of the vaccine, and 880,000 have had their booster too.  It’s a safe and effective way to protect yourself against the serious illness that COVID can cause – and opens up the rest of world to people who want to travel too.

To help get this message out to Hertfordshire and west Essex residents, the NHS is using targeted search engine advertising to reach people who are planning to travel to see friends and families abroad.  

Dr Rachel Joyce, lead clinician for the Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care System said: “Many places ask you to prove that you’ve been vaccinated against COVID-19 before you can enter the country, so if you haven’t had your first, second or booster jab yet, please don’t put it off.  Having your jabs now will mean that you can start planning family reunions - or catch a flight at short notice if there’s a family emergency.  

“Plan your trip in advance, get your vaccinations up to date before you travel and keep your options open for reuniting with friends and family.”
