NHS at 70 birthday card
The NHS turns 70 on the 5 July 2018. To celebrate this amazing milestone, NHS Herts Valleys CCG has worked with Jupiter Community Free School in Hemel Hempstead, asking their pupils to help us design a birthday card.
Pupils entering the competition were asked to choose any theme or design they liked and to include the words ‘NHS 70’.
The winning card was designed by Jeremiah, age 7. It depicts a beating heart, made of two red handprints joined together and the slogan ‘every life matters.’
The winning design will now be printed on the front of 10,000 pledge cards which we are distributing to patients, residents and volunteers across Hertfordshire and parts of Essex. The pledge card is asking people to give something back to others and to the NHS on it’s 70 birthday.
The winners were announced at Jupiter School last Friday 18 May 2018 at a special assembly celebrating the NHS turning 70.
Dr Nicolas Small, Chair of Herts Valleys CCG, attended the assembly, spoke to pupils and announced the winners.
Dr Small said:
“I was really impressed with how the pupils at Jupiter School got involved with our competition. I could tell a lot of thought went in to the design of the winning card. I enjoyed talking with the children about the NHS services in our area. We had great fun performing the ‘skeleton dance’ to understand how our bodies work. We also thought of ideas on how to lead a healthy lifestyle by keeping active and eating a healthy diet.”
